Saving $$$ on my cell phone bill.

by Heather on July 29, 2010

I’m always looking for ways to cut my bills down. I was looking around online the other day at how I could lower my cell phone bill. I was told by the rep at the store that I couldn’t lower my minutes because I had this feature and that feature.  It made absolutely not sense to me why I needed a plan with such a large number of minutes when I don’t use even half of them.

I thought “Oh I’ll just click around and see if it will let me change it online.” Surely if you really can’t do it, the online system wouldn’t allow it.  Friends let me tell you I got my minutes cut in half and am now saving $30 a month off my bill! Yeah $30!  That pays for my home internet bill! Wohoo! I was excited.

Then, I was in need of a new phone but didn’t want to sign a new contract. My brother purchased the new Droid when it came out leaving his few month old Droid up for sale. I bought it and saved over $100 PLUS didn’t have to extend my contract! (PS I hate contracts.)

When I activated the phone I had to call the company to switch data plans and the lady didn’t tell me I had to up the minutes plan so apparently it was ok for me to lower it online!  Guess that shows how much that guy in the store knew huh!  Just kinda peeves me that I spent $30 more a month for a whole year and didn’t have to!

How do you save money on your cell phone bill?
